hello |

Day 2 : Trip to school in snow and on a slippy road.
Today was the first meeting with the school and its staff. The school is really big and I got lost like a thousand times. It's really weird to get used to this school system. They address their teacher with first names and all. They just stand up whenever they feel like it and they are totally differently dressed than our students. If we would dress like that, we would get expelled.
Getting to the school, again a big adventure. EVen starting the day might be difficult for candles on the toilet, as I got them into the toilet during flushing ... Oh yes, only I can do that. This was my third accident already, after knocking of a painting yesterday and half destroying the cupboard, but it was never my intention and I think it was already like that when I opened it ...

Then I had to get out of this carplace on the slippery road, on which I had fallen on my ***. I had to be brave and cool and said: I will check the road, wearing high heels ... Stupid cow! Any way, so far so good, but then the GPS decided to fail on us. NO signal and no signs on the map to tell us where to go. So, improvise Natalia! My copilots weren't awake yet, but after a while the GPS worked and yes, we got to Groby ... finally.
This adventure was nothing compared to the school we would be dropped in. Viv told us a few general things, and then we were dropped into the big thing! We felt totally lost and confused, the first lesson me and my partner in crime, Tanja, had to see was so boring we almost fell asleep. It was really how we would NOT teach. Photography was an eyeopener. So brilliant the works these pupils make...
Oh yeah, and we discoverd where Vermeulen gets her ideas for portfolios: Groby Community Collage! How often we heard the words course work portfolio, self evaltuation, peer evaluation, ... Unbelievable! The food was really nice and cheap.
At the end of the day we had tutoring sessions: these are sessions in which teacher talk individually to pupils about their upcoming report. Really nice experience where I could talk to pupils and get to now the mentality of the British pupils a little bit! Fun to do, really nice.
Now, part two of this wonderfull chaotic day: finding a petrol station and shop! This was absolutley roundaboutish!!! I can't count the times the GPS said neem volgende rotonde en neem vierde afslag on two hands. Those are dangerous f*cking things, but hey, I survived. Shopping was really fun: finally some slippers, as I forgot them at home

Evi cooked us a lovely meal which we all much enjoyed.

Any way, we're up to see a movie now, and they're nagging to hurry up, so I will finish now.

Stil the one and only
